Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev secured his first title for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a challenging period, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in particular - led to him falling of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-time trainer Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

This marks his first championship since the Italian tournament and first on a hard court since that period of the previous year.

Success also signifies he has achieved 21 victories at 21 various competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my children together, so to get a trophy is really nice," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my child Victoria, because the first title I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his past six finals, including in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had caused some to doubt if his ability to play at the top level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and compete positively, backed up by an better service.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the final five points to take the lead.

The pair traded service breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden professional championship, gained dominance to create a third set.

He defended 4 early chances in a tight final set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner earned victory with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to handle a return after a lengthy match.
